Dr. Jill Gambill, a researcher at Georgia Tech’s Institute for People and Technology, began developing an adaptation plan for Tybee Island in 2012 –– the first of its kind by a local government in the state. Part of Tybee Island’s Natural Infrastructure Plan, the rain gardens will help absorb stormwater, reduce flooding, and improve water quality. Using native plants, the rain gardens will also provide habitat for pollinators. Link to news story

CEAR Hub has received a grant from UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant to conduct community‑led flood resilience research to aid planning in Pin Point, Georgia. The project will be led by Alex Robel, associate professor in the Georgia Tech School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, and will be conducted in collaboration with the Pin Point Betterment Association (PPBA).
