Georgia Tech 2026 Summer Camp recap

This summer, the Georgia Tech CEAR Hub hosted 3 summer camps: AI on Land & Sea, Underwater Robotics, and Weather Your Stations. Campers were buzzing with creativity, discovery, and innovation as they participated in a variety of engaging STEM camps designed to inspire the next generation of problem-solvers. Through hands-on learning experiences, campers explored emerging technologies, engineering design, environmental science, artificial intelligence, robotics, and career pathways while building confidence, collaboration skills, and passion for STEM.


Underwater Robotics camp allowed middle and high school participants to step into the role of marine engineers by designing, building, and testing remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). Students learned about buoyancy, propulsion systems, underwater exploration, and engineering design while working collaboratively to solve challenges and navigate their creations through aquatic missions. The camp provided an exciting introduction to marine technology and highlighted career opportunities in ocean engineering, robotics, and environmental research. A visit to Gray’s Reef Ocean Discovery Center allowed students got a peek into the world of ocean discovery.




At the AI on Land & Sea Camp, students explored how artificial intelligence is transforming industries both on land and along Georgia's coast. Campers trained AI models, learned foundational machine learning concepts, analyzed environmental data, and discovered how emerging technologies can be used to solve real-world challenges. Through these experiences, students gained valuable exposure to careers in computer science, environmental monitoring, marine technology, and data analytics.

A highlight of the camp was a visit to Honey Ridge Agricenter, where students participated in hands-on data collection through the Farming with Big Data curriculum. Working on a real farm, campers investigated how sensors and smart technologies help farmers monitor environmental conditions, improve efficiency, and make data-driven decisions. Students collected and analyzed data from agricultural sensors, gaining first-hand experience with the technologies that are shaping the future of precision agriculture. This unique opportunity connects classroom concepts to real-world applications, helping students understand how artificial intelligence, data science, and sensor technology can be used to address challenges in both agriculture and environmental stewardship.



CEAR Hub concluded this year’s camps with a Weather Your Station Camp, students became meteorologists, climate scientists, and engineers as they explored the science and technology behind weather monitoring and forecasting. Through hands-on investigations, campers learned how weather impacts daily life and discovered how scientists collect and use environmental data to better understand changing conditions.

Throughout the camp, students designed and built their own weather stations, collected and analyzed data, and explored key weather concepts such as temperature, humidity, air pressure, wind speed, and precipitation. Using sensors and digital tools, campers gained experience with real-world technologies that support weather forecasting, agriculture, environmental research, and public safety.

A highlight of the camp was the opportunity for students to visit WSAV news station to connect career pathways in meteorology, environmental science, engineering, data analytics, and climate research.
