The Pin Point community came together on October 4 for a day of learning, collaboration, and service during a K-12 education event and community garden clean-up day at the Pin Point Community Garden. The event, titled “Gardening 101,” was organized through a partnership between the Pin Point Betterment Association and Georgia Tech’s Center for Coastal Equity and Resilience (CEAR) Hub, as part of ongoing efforts to engage youth in hands-on environmental education and promote community resilience.
Youth from the surrounding area joined community members, educators, and CEAR Hub partners for a morning filled with interactive activities. The event introduced participants to the fundamentals of gardening, plant care, and sustainable growing practices, helping them understand the connections between healthy environments, food systems, and resilient communities.
In addition to learning experiences, volunteers spent time cleaning and refreshing the community garden space—removing weeds and harvesting seasonal produce. These efforts help ensure that the garden remains a vibrant, productive space for the community to gather, learn, and grow together.

The Pin Point Community Garden continues to serve as both an educational resource and a community anchor, fostering collaboration between residents, local partners, and institutions like Georgia Tech. The CEAR Hub’s continued support of these activities demonstrates its commitment to strengthening coastal resilience through locally driven projects and partnerships.
