The CEAR Hub strives to create equitable education opportunities for underserved and underrepresented youth living in coastal Georgia. By increasing understanding of sea level rise, coastal ecology, disaster mitigation, information technology, environmental justice, and climate resilience, we are helping to develop the next generation of climate leaders. Our K-12 education programs are led by the Georgia Tech Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC), Savannah State University Department of Marine Sciences, and University of Georgia Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant.  

 

IOT & YOU Summer Camp

July 8-19, 2024

Students in rising 8th-12th grades are invited to attend a two-week summer camp at the Georgia Tech Savannah Campus! This advanced program is designed for participants looking to take their knowledge of coding both to the next level and off the screen and into the real world. The Internet of Things (IoT) lets you connect, explore, control, and collect data on the world around you. Led by Dr. Russ Clark, a computer science professor at Georgia Tech, this program includes a full week of hands-on projects and a take-home kit to keep the fun going all year long!

This program is for students with advanced knowledge of written coding language.

NASA Sea Level Change Makers Summer Camp

July 15-19, 2024

This special week-long summer camp introduces rising 7th-8th graders to how coastal areas are changing due to sea level rise. While participating in hands-on activities and outdoor educational experiences on Skidaway, Tybee and Wassaw Islands, students will explore real data collected by NASA scientists, discover how communities are adapting to impacts, and gain new strategies for becoming effective leaders on climate change.

Price: Thanks to funding from the NASA Science Activation Program, this camp will be offered for free on a first-come basis.
